A right-wing conservative Congressman from California has called the violent event in Charlottesville, Virginia, a “total hoax” perpetrated by liberals.

A right-wing conservative Congressman from California has called the violent event in Charlottesville, Virginia, a “total hoax” perpetrated by liberals.
According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Republican Representative Dana Rohrabacher has indicated that, “Democrats were behind last month’s white nationalist riots in Charlottesville, Va.”
The media outlet further reports, “Under Rohrabacher’s scenario, a former ‘Hillary and Bernie supporter’ got Civil War re-enactors to gather under the guise of protecting a Robert E. Lee statue there."
Liberals have fired back, with the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee tweeting the story with the comment, “Disturbing claim by #CA48 GOP Rep. Rohrabacher: Charlottesville protests were a ‘total hoax’. Let's vote him OUT!”
He faces re-election next year.
Despite his views, the Congressman isn’t the only conservative who has made controversial claims about the Charlottesville event.
“The media and the political left have turned this incident into the biggest fake news story of the summer, transforming its real lessons into a morality play that justifies war against the political right, and against white people generally,” author David Horowitz wrote in a Breitbart column last month.
President Trump also seemed to continue his attack on the leftist Antifa group, saying Thursday, “you have some pretty bad dudes on the other side also.”
Nevertheless, the same day, he signed a joint resolution passed by Congress which denounces the hate and violence perpetrated by white supremacist groups in Charlottesville.
