Afghanistan Country

Afghanistan, (which literally means Land of the Afghan) is a mountainous landlocked country located in Central Asia. It has a history and culture that goes back over 5000 years. Throughout its long, splendid, and sometimes chaotic history, this area of the world has been known by various names. In ancient times, its inhabitants called the land Aryana. In the medieval era, it was called Khorasan, and in modern times, its people have decided to call it Afghanistan.

Afghanistan is a dry and mountainous country located in Southern Asia, north and west to Pakistan, east to Iran. Afghanistan declared it’s independence in 1919 after the "Third-Anglo-Afghan War"with British.

Kabul is the capital of Afghanistan as well as its largest city, located in the eastern section of the country. According to latest estimates, the population of the city is about 4.6 million, which includes all the major ethnic groups.

Religion in Afghanistan
Afghanistan is an Islamic republic where Islam is practiced by 99.7% of its population. Roughly 90% of the Afghans follow Sunni Islam. The remaining are Shias. Apart from Muslims, there are also small minorities of Sikhs and Hindus.

The culture of Afghanistan Has been around for over two millennia, tracing record to at least the time of the Achaemenid Empire in 500 BC.

Most of Afghanistan has a subarctic mountain climate with dry and cold winters, except for the lowlands, which have arid and semiarid climates. In the mountains and a few of the valleys bordering Pakistan, a fringe effect of the Indian monsoon, coming usually from the southeast, brings moist maritime tropical air in summer. Afghanistan has clearly defined seasons; summers are hot and winters can be bitterly cold.

In Kabul, the summers are long, hot, and clear; the winters are chilly and partly cloudy; and it is dry year round. Over the course of the year, the temperature typically varies from 24°F to 93°F and is rarely below 14°F or above 98°F.
