A Florida woman fleeing from Hurricane Irma recently bought a winning lottery ticket in North Carolina.
Tiffany Hatfield of Ocoee, Florida, was reportedly on her way to Virginia when she stopped at Circle K in Rocky Mount, notes WRAL.
She purchased a $5 Diamond Dazzler, and, upon scratching it off, became $10,000 richer.
“The mother of three…said she only stopped at the store because her daughter had to use the bathroom," according to WLS. "Hatfield said when they realized they had won, they started screaming and felt very happy.”
“She plans on using the money to help repair her home from the damage Irma caused," the North Carolina Education Lottery writes in a Facebook post Tuesday. "Congratulations, Tiffany. We are glad you found some luck in North Carolina!”
