Dog Said To Have Likely Ingested Drugs Before Fatally Mauling Owner

A dog that fatally mauled its owner in March is said to likely have ingested crack cocaine before the attack.
A Staffordshire bull terrier that fatally mauled its owner in March is said to likely have ingested crack cocaine before the attack.
The Telegraph reports that the incident took place in London and in front of documentary crew with the BBC.
That group was interviewing the victim, Mario Perivoitos, as part of the project ‘Drugs Map of Britain,’ but was not filming at the time.
However, it did reportedly try to intervene in the attack, but was not able to pull the dog away in time.
According to The Guardian, Andrew Walker, senior coroner, revealed that, prior to the attack, Perivoitos had consumed cocaine.
“It is likely that he was experiencing an epileptic shock, which caused the dog to nip his face before biting his neck,” Walker further noted.
Mail Online reports that veterinary toxicologist Nicholas Carmichael also provided testimony, saying the dog’s urine tested positive for “…cocaine metabolite and also morphine. It is very likely that this dog had consumed drugs, probably eaten them. It is almost impossible to say whether that will make the dog attack but it does make them respond abnormally.”
Authorities have indicated that the dog will likely be put down.
