Why Is This Peppa Pig Cartoon Banned In Australia?

Unlike the book "Charlotte's Web," this pig-and-spider combo might not be a good thing for the children of Australia.

An episode of "Peppa Pig" that encouraged children to pick up and play with spiders accidentally aired online in Australia. The episode, entitled "Mister Skinny Legs," claims that spiders "can't hurt you" because they are "very, very small."

There's only one problem: some Australian spiders are actually very, very big. One example is the Huntsman spider, which is big enough to carry a mouse, or the redback spider, which packs dangerous venom in its fangs. Spider bites sent nearly 13,000 Australians to the hospital in the last decade, causing at least one death this year.

Australian parents are now worried that kids who saw the "Peppa Pig" episode may be drawn to play with these dangerous spiders.

So remember kids: spiders CAN hurt you. Peppa Pig is wrong.
