Why are there troubles and difficulties in life?

VTR: Hello, my name is Yunus Emre. I would like to ask Mr. Oktar a question. In our daily lives, we struggle against great many troubles and stress. And we try to tackle these issues by keeping in mind the fact that they are all a part of God's trial for us. So, couldn't God have created everything in a manner that is free of problems, tribulations and distress? Couldn't there have been a universe where everyone lives happily, without any worry or stress? Why are we supposed to put to such a trial?

ADNAN OKTAR: Otherwise the fine details and subtleties would remain obscure, which would render life a 3bit dull. There have to be hospitals, medication; there have to be many subtle details in life so that we learn about all of them and appreciate comfort and peace. For example, when people go to heaven, the first thing they request is to sit on a chair and rest, whereas they do not actually have such needs. Why would they do so?  They want to lie down on bed because that is what they become accustomed to in this world. Were they not used to beds, they would not feel the need to lie down on one. Or had they not known about chairs, that is, if they do not consider chairs a commodity, they would not seek it. They do not feel any exhaustion in heaven, yet they still wish to sit down and rest. Or they wish to drive around in heaven. They can instantly travel to wherever they want, but they still want a car as they are used to it and consider it a blessing. Everything we are accustomed to in this world will be a subtlety for us in the hereafter. If we did not know about any of these, then in the hereafter, life would become dreary for us. The only thing that would be left to do is to sit at the palaces of heaven, doing nothing but eating and chatting. Life would become dull in that case. Hardships must exist so that life does not become dull and that love becomes profound. For example in the hereafter, we will be in the company of a Mahdi, of our Prophet (saas) and the Prophet Joseph (pbuh). We love the Prophet Joseph (pbuh) dearly; why? We love him enthusiastically because he suffered a life of confinement. Why do we love the Prophet (saas)? We love him because he led a life of suffering and hardship; we love him for his loyalty. We love Hazrat Mahdi (as); why? Because of the suffering he goes through and his struggle against these sufferings. Otherwise, there would be barely any reason to love. For example there are maidens in heaven, whom we love only for their beauty. But we love the women who go to heaven for their myriad superior moral values. They bring beauty to our lives. Another point is that we can barely comprehend God's wisdom, but only partially. We would desire a life of peace and comfort, but that too has its consequences. For example, in order not to disturb peace, you may forgive an atrocity; but it will lead to an extreme injustice and result in causing harm. Of course, I have discussed this subject in my books. If our brothers and sisters look into further reading on this subject, such extensive narrations will prove more beneficial than a brief discussion.
