Hillary Clinton’s book 'What Happened' is set for official release next week, but an excerpt has surfaced that describes her 2016 election night call to Donald Trump.
According to CNN, Clinton describes the call to concede as, “without a doubt one of the strangest moments of my life."
“I congratulated Trump and offered to do anything I could to make sure the transition was smooth," she said. "It was all perfectly nice and weirdly ordinary, like calling a neighbor to say you can't make it to his barbecue. It was mercifully brief...I was numb. It was all so shocking."
CNN, which notes it obtained a copy of 'What Happened' from a bookstore in Florida, also reports that while Clinton takes primary responsibility for her loss, she asserts there were many who played a hand in the upset.
Among them are Russian President Vladimir Putin and Bernie Sanders.
In regards to the latter, Clinton writes, in part, that Sanders’ frequent mentions of her well-compensated corporate speeches, “caused lasting damage, making it harder to unify progressives in the general election and paving the way for Trump's 'Crooked Hillary' campaign."
