Dramatic footage has emerged of a plane flying into the eye of Hurricane Irma in an attempt to predict her path.

The video, filmed from inside a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration plane, shows strong winds hitting the aircraft as it flies into the eye of the hurricane.

It was filmed by aerospace engineer Nick Underwood aboard the NOAA's WP-3D Orion, nicknamed Kermit, somewhere over the Atlantic near the Leeward Islands in the West Indies on September 5.
