Sanford in North Carolina was hit by the remains of Tropical Storm Harvey on Friday afternoon, September 1, devastating homes and businesses in the area.The damage was caused by a “microburst” of winds traveling up to 90mph, WNCN reported.“Several funnel clouds were witnessed however, the National Weather Service says that none of those funnel clouds reached the ground to form a tornado,” Priest told Storyful.“The damage, according to the NWS, came from microbursts. Large trees fell on power lines and houses, and a roof was torn off a warehouse. Several in the area are still without power, crews continue to work to clean the damage and get power restored.”According to WNCN, three businesses and 28 homes were damaged.
