Report: Trump Administration Has Prepared Paperwork For Pardoning Arpaio

CNN reports that the Trump administration has prepared the required paperwork to pardon former Sheriff Joe Arpaio.
President Trump gave another hint on Tuesday that he may pardon Joe Arpaio, the former sheriff of Maricopa County, Arizona.
According to CNN, that apparently was not just bluster.
The news outlet reported on Wednesday, “The White House has prepared the paperwork for President Trump to pardon…Arpaio when he makes the final decision to do so.”
CNN further notes, “An administration official said the White House has also prepared talking points to send to surrogates after he is pardoned.”
They include highlighting Arpaio’s years of service with the military and the Drug Enforcement Administration, and stressing that sending a man to prison for "working to keep people safe" is inappropriate.
In July, Arpaio was convicted of criminal contempt of court for failing to comply with a federal judge’s order to stop targeting people based on suspicions that they may be in the country illegally, notes MassLive.
Politico reports that his sentencing is scheduled for early October and he faces a maximum of 6 months in prison.
