A man believed to have been a key figure behind the controversial dossier about President Trump has submitted testimony to Senate Judiciary Committee staff members.
Fox News is reporting, based on inside sources, that Glenn Simpson’s closed-door session lasted for several hours Tuesday and involved a handover of more than 40,000 documents; further details have not yet been released.
Simpson used to be a reporter for the Wall Street Journal before founding a private research company, Fusion GPS, which commissioned former British intelligence agent Christopher Steele to put together a dossier on Trump, notes ABC News.
The 35-page document includes various claims as well as possible evidence of collusion between Trump campaign officials and Russia.
CNN reports, “Simpson is the first of three major players in the ongoing Russia probes to speak with judiciary staff.”
Others who have agreed to private sessions on Capitol Hill include the president’s son, Donald Trump Jr., and former campaign manager, Paul Manafort.
