by Anthony FalcoThis art is going up in smoke, but don’t worry: that’s a good thing! An Egyptian artist is creating portraits with gunpowder and tobacco to make a statement about the dangers of smoking. The 23-year-old artist breaks the cigarettes in half and pours the tobacco on a sheet of paper. Then, he sprinkles some gunpowder on top, sets the material on fire, and voila! The portrait is burned into the paper. He originally tried to use coffee grounds, salt and sand, but nothing worked as well as tobacco.Smoke if you got ’em.
