Obama's Tweet After Charlottesville Violence Is One Of the Most Liked Ever

Former President Obama's tweet after the violence in Charlottesville is among the most liked tweets ever.
While many criticized President Trump's Saturday statement on Charlottesville, Virginia violence in which he blamed "many sides," response to former President Obama's reaction has been quite different, at least on social media.
Obama posted a series of tweets citing a Nelson Mandela's quote and one of the tweets is now among the most liked ever.
"'No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin or his background or his religion,'" reads Obama's tweet, which as of Tuesday morning had about 2.5 million likes and 1 million retweets.
The former president's subsequent tweets on Saturday read, "'People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love...'" and "'...For love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.' - Nelson Mandela."
Trump faced backlash for his initial statement in which he did not specifically condemn white supremacists. In another statement on Monday, however, the president was more specific, noting, “Racism is evil and those who cause violence in its name are criminals and thugs, including the KKK, neo-Nazis, white supremacists and other hate groups that are repugnant to all that we hold dear as Americans.”
