Donald Trump issued a direct condemnation of racism on Monday after criticism of his response to the violence in Charlottesville, Virginia. Trump said in televised remarks Monday afternoon from the White House. Heather Heyer, 32, died and 19 others were hurt when a car slammed into counter-protesters in Charlottesville. Initially, Trump said that the violence in Charlottesville was initiated by “many sides,” drawing nearly universal criticism.
