Serena Williams: Tennis superstar

Serena Williams is one of the best tennis players of her time. The Michigan native captured title after title, graced magazine covers and appeared in TV shows. Williams couldn't have made it far without the tutelage of her father, Richard, who began teaching her tennis at the age of 3. She turned pro in 1995 after after accumulating a 46-3 record on the junior United States Tennis Association tour four years prior. Williams' best year by far was when she won the French Open, the U.S. Open, and Wimbledon in 2002, defeating Venus in the finals of each tournament. The next decade-and-a-half included such tragedies as the murder of her half sister Yetunde Price, injuries and upset losses. Over the last three years, Williams has packed on three grand slam titles, bringing her total to 23. Williams is now expecting her first child with fiancé and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian.
