Hepatitis C can be treated in as little as eight weeks thanks to the new drug Mavyret. On Thursday, the new treatment was approved by the FDA. AbbVie Inc. created the drug to cure cirrhosis, a liver disease caused by Hep C. Mavyret is more affordable than competitor Hep C drugs with AbbVie seeking to get coverage approved by Medicare, Medicaid, and the Veterans Administration.
