China has opened its first overseas military support base in Africa. China claims the establishment of the base has nothing to do with arm races. The base will help stimulate Djibouti’s social and economic developments, and contribute to keep peace and stability in Africa. The opening of the base coincides with the 90th anniversary of the establishment of China’s military, the People’s Liberation Army
