Venezuela votes on constituent assembly amid boycott threats

Venezuelans are casting their votes to elect a legislative assembly with the power to reform the constitution. The poll triggered deadly street protests against President Nicolas Maduro. The vote could allow Maduro to replace the legislature giving him the ability to expand and consolidate his political power. Maduro said protests are illegal, threatening boycotters with a 10-year prison sentence.
