Mahershala Ali confirmed to star in True Detective season 3

After months of speculation, HBO's True Detective is ready for season 3, and Oscar winner Mahershala Ali will lead the cast. HBO president of programming Casey Bloys confirmed the news during Wednesday’s Television Critics Association’s press tour in Pasadena. “I have read five scripts for a third season,” Bloys said. “I’m very very impressed and excited about what I’ve read. I don’t want to give away the storyline, but I really think they’re terrific.”
The new season is not completely guaranteed, however. Bloys added the network is currently on the hunt for directors, “We are talking to directors, and when we have a director we want to hire, it will be a go.”
