Alligator bites finger, toes, testicle off homeless man bathing in pond

PORT CHARLOTTE, FLORIDA — A homeless man managed to survive an alligator attack this week, but he's now missing a few extremities.
The morning of July 24, Fredric Iman, 68, was looking to freshen up in a retention pond in Charlotte County. When he hopped into the water, he soon came under attack. Recognizing he was being bitten by an alligator, Iman turned to fight back and punched the beast in the eye. In return, he says the reptile tried to pull him further into the pond.
Iman managed to escape the violent exchange, but lost two toes, an index finger, and a testicle. With no cell phone, he had to walk a quarter mile before he could find someone to help him. According to the county's EMS office, Iman's injuries were deemed non life-threatening. Though he cannot afford to pay his medical bills, the hospital will continue treating Iman, NBC 2 News reports.
The alligator, known by the locals as Charlie, has been caught and euthanized.
