Poland: Reviving the ancient tradition of timber floating

A group in Poland are reviving the ancient tradition of timber floating by assembling tree trunks and sending them down the Vistula river to Gdansk port in the south of Poland. For centuries, their ancestors used this method to send wood from the pine forests of this region to port cities for exportation throughout Europe. This method of transportation disappeared in 1939 after it was replaced by trucks and trains.
