Elon Musk Says He Has 'Verbal Govt' Approval To Build NY-DC Hyperloop

It wasn’t that long ago that Elon Musk was talking about the possibility of building a super-fast hyperloop transit system. Well, according to Musk, it’s happening.

It wasn’t that long ago that Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk talked about the possibility of building an underground transit system.

Well, according to Musk, it’s happening.
In a series of tweets Thursday morning, he said, “Just received verbal govt approval for The Boring Company to build an underground NY-Phil-Balt-DC Hyperloop. NY-DC in 29 mins. City center to city center in each case, with up to a dozen or more entry/exit elevators in each city.”
Gizmodo notes that the businessman's "Boring Company began as jokes that Musk tweeted last year when he was stuck in traffic..."
Meanwhile, it appears Musk is also taking location requests at this time for the tunnel project.
One Twitter user asked, “Can Texas haz hyper loop too? Dallas - Houston - San Antonio – Austin.”
Musk replied, “For sure. First set of tunnels are to alleviate greater LA urban congestion. Will start NY-DC in parallel. Then prob LA-SF and a TX loop.”
The prospect of adding such a super-speedy means of transit to existing options is, of course, very exciting, but don’t rip up your train and bus passes just yet. The government has yet to corroborate Musk’s tweets about the project’s approval.
Also, Musk followed his string of very positive and encouraging tweets with the admission, “Still a lot of work needed to receive formal approval, but am optimistic that will occur rapidly.”
