Paul Ryan: From Wisconsin to Capitol Hill

Paul Ryan was born in Janesville, Wisconsin on January 29, 1970. In 1992, he graduated from Miami University with a degree in economics and political science. At age 28, he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives for Wisconsin's Congressional District 1. He served as the House Budget Committee chairman from 2011 to 2015. In 2012, Ryan was a running mate alongside presidential nominee Mitt Romney. Although Romey-Ryan lost the race, Ryan was reelected to the House in 2014 winning more than 63 percent of the vote against Rob Zerban. He was elected as speaker of the House in 2015 and reelected thereafter.
