Out of the top ten highest earmers at the BBC, only two of them are women. Chris Evans, who starred in the BBC's relaunch of Top Gear, which flopped, topped the list with over two million pounds in earnings from the Public broadcaster. The highest paid female at the corporation is Strictly's Claudia Winkleman, who earns less than a quarter of Evans' salary. Former Secretary of State for Media, Culture and Sport, John Whittingdale, said the BBC needs to explain this disparity, as the public broadcaster should be setting an example.
