Former Vice President Al Gore didn't mince words on Monday while discussing how the U.S. is doing under the Trump administration.
Gore said during an appearance on NBC's Today show, "We've never had a president who's deliberately made decisions the effect of which is to tear down America's standing in the world."
He mentioned Trump's withdrawal from the Paris accord as an example, noting the climate change is currently one of the biggest challenges.
Gore added that the president has also "undermined our alliances such as NATO and hurt our standing in the world."
A recent ABC News/Washington Post poll showed that Trump has “the lowest six-month approval rating of any president in polls dating back 70 years.”
According to an ABC News report about the survey, “Just 36 percent of Americans polled...approve of Trump’s job performance...The previous president closest to this level at or near six months was Gerald Ford, at 39 percent, in February 1975.”
Poll participants cited Russia-related allegations and slow progress on nation's problems as key concerns.
However, among the 1,001 American adults who were surveyed for the poll July 10-13, the president’s leadership on the world stage and his ability to negotiate with foreign powers were also called into question.
