Sarah Sanders Appears To Contradict Trump About Sanctions Being Discussed With Putin

White House deputy press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders appears to have contradicted a statement President Trump has made about his recent meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

White House deputy press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders appears to have contradicted a statement President Trump made about his recent meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
CBS News’ Jackie Alemany tweeted Monday that Sanders had stated, “There were sanctions specific to election meddling that were discussed but not beyond that.”
Other journalists, including those with NBC News and Politico, corroborated this account which was reportedly made during an off-camera briefing with the media earlier in the day.
Sanders’ comment seems to be in direct contrast with a tweet Trump posted Sunday where he said that “Sanctions were not discussed at my meeting with President Putin. Nothing will be done until the Ukrainian & Syrian problems are solved!”
This is one of several conflicting versions of events stemming from Putin and Trump’s extended session in Hamburg, Germany which was reportedly attended by just six people including the two leaders, their top foreign affairs officials--U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov--and their interpreters.
As Politico’s Josh Dawsey has tweeted, “Putin/Trump seem to have different accounts of meeting. Lavrov/Tillerson have different accounts. Trump/his staff have different accounts.”
