This tick will literally make you allergic to meat

There's quite possibly no fate worse than having a tick bite you, only to realize you can no longer eat meat. It's (mostly) every person's worst nightmare and the ticks are headed your way. The Lone Star tick, which is most common in the southeast, has spread up the East Coast and into the Midwest in recent years. "We expect with warming temperatures, the tick is going to slowly make its way northward and westward and cause more problems than they're already causing," said Dr. Ronald Saff, an allergist in Tallahassee, Florida The tick's bite causes changes in people that make them sensitive to a sugar compound (alpha-galactose) that exists in meat from mammals. Symptoms can spawn around 10-12 hours after a bite. Be careful out there!
