BRIGHTON, ENGLAND — When a UK women went to get her leaky vagina sorted out, the specialized surgery she underwent may have destroyed her sex life for good.
After giving birth several years ago, Theresa Bartram, now 50, found herself struggling with stress incontinence due to a prolapsed bladder. The condition can result in dripping urine when sneezing, coughing, laughing, or exercising. Stripped of her confidence in the bedroom, Bartram opted to have transvaginal tape (TVT) inserted, to hold up her drooping urethra and leave her leakage problems in the past.
According to her interview in The Sun, she enjoyed great sex for a couple of years, until in 2009 when her boyfriend’s penis drew blood after entering her. Bartram says they stopped having sex because all he saw was a “venus fly trap.” Six months later, they broke up, leaving Bartram feeling confused and desperately alone. Though doctors kept telling her TVT was functioning fine, she suspected otherwise. She suffered a series of health problems and ailments over the years that followed, including having her gallbladder removed.
In 2015, when nasty green pus starting leaking out of her vagina, she finally had the TVT removed. As it turns out, the mesh was fitted too low in the first place, causing all the carnage. Her vagina now numb following all the operations, at 50, she feels destined to go untouched for the rest of her days. Recently, she joined Sling The Mesh, a group whose mission is to spread awareness of the dangers of the TVT procedure.
