Malayalam filmmaker Anwar Rasheed on Wednesday resigned from the Kerala Film Producers' Association (KFPA) and Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA).

Rasheed alleged that the associations did not support him when a pirated copy of his production 'Premam' was leaked onto the Internet. The director-turned-producer also alleged that none of the film organisations helped him to tackle the piracy issue.

Rasheed also said that he will go ahead with his projects without the support of any association.

Rasheed had recently approached the police and anti-piracy cell seeking action against the ones who published the pirated copy of the movie online.

Pirated copy of the Nivin Pauly-starrer, with a watermark reading 'censor copy', has been spreading through various online platforms.

The watermark suggests that the leaked copy is the one submitted to the Censor Board.

It's highly offensive to spread pirated copies according to the Anti-piracy Act.
