Kellyanne Conway appeared on Friday’s Fox & Friends and defended the president amid what has been rather widespread criticism of his tweet about MSNBC's ‘Morning Joe’ host Mika Brzezinski.
Conway said, “As a woman who knows him and works for him, I'm very pleased at how he treats women in this workplace, the White House.”
She continued, “His two daughters and his wife are three of the strongest, most intelligent, most courageous women I’ve ever met, and they’re all willing to be public servants at this point.”
White House Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders and a spokesperson for the first lady have also supported Trump’s tweet.
Sanders was asked during Thursday’s press briefing, “Did the President go too far with his tweet in its deeply personal nature?”
She replied, in part, “I don’t think so.  I mean, I think that the President has been attacked mercilessly on personal accounts by members on that program, and I think he’s been very clear that when he gets attacked he’s going to hit back.”
That same day, Mrs. Trump’s spokesperson said in a statement, “As the first lady has stated publicly in the past, when her husband gets attacked he will punch back 10 times harder.”
The Trump tweets in question were posted on Thursday morning and read, “I heard poorly rated @Morning_Joe speaks badly of me (don't watch anymore). Then how come low I.Q. Crazy Mika, along with Psycho Joe, came to Mar-a-Lago 3 nights in a row around New Year's Eve, and insisted on joining me. She was bleeding badly from a face-lift. I said no!”
