German Chancellor Angela Merkel has revealed how she keeps track of U.S. politics.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has revealed how she keeps track of U.S. politics.
According to a video with English subtitles posted by The Guardian, she said during a recent interview in Berlin, “I type ‘Twitter Donald Trump’ and I’ve got everything.”
She also reportedly indicated that she doesn’t read all the president’s tweets but notices the ones the media decides to write about, notes the Associated Press.
Merkel’s comments were made after she explained that she herself doesn’t tweet nor does she regularly check the online platform; instead, she simply searches for things that interest her.
Social media appears to be one of many areas in which the two world leaders differ; Merkel also acknowledged during the event that they have contrasting views on globalization.
She is quoted as saying, “You have to take that into account when we assert our interests. You have to be realistic.”
According to Bloomberg, she had previously indicated that the U.S. president sees the concept as one “where every winner is offset by a loser.”
Reuters reports that Merkel and Trump are expected to meet later next week at a G20 summit in Hamburg, Germany, where she hopes to encourage free trade and open markets.
