Zoo tiger rubs against woman’s baby bump, sees love or a snack?

SOUTH BEND, INDIANA — A video showing a pregnant woman sharing a cute interaction with a female tiger at the Potawatomi Zoo has gone viral online, but the nature of the moment has sparked debate among Facebook users.
In the video, separated by a wall of glass, Morgana the tiger notices mother-to-be Natasha Handshoe’s baby bump, and appears to try to snuggle against her belly. Natasha and her cousin, Brittany, seem to think the tiger is having a connection with the baby — some level of universal appreciation across species for maternity, or the recognition of life in its most vulnerable state.
After the video began making the rounds online, the Potawatomi Zoo shared it as well to capitalize on the growing attention. The zoo posted the video along with the caption: “This is why the Zoo is here — to help make connections to nature!”
Some Facebook users thought the video was beautiful, while many more poked fun at the pregnant woman, suggesting that were there no glass separating them, the tiger would have eaten her and her unborn child for lunch.
Since originally being posted on June 17, the video has since racked up 778,000 Facebook views.
