CNN Sends Courtroom Sketch Artist To Cover Off-Camera White House Press Briefing

CNN decided to send its sketch artist for an off-camera White House press briefing.

The White House has faced widespread criticism over the increasing frequency of off-camera press briefings.
When that continued Friday, CNN came up with a creative way to make its point about the need for more open media access.
It sent a sketch artist to cover the off-camera briefing.
The network's Brian Stelter tweeted, "CNN sent Bill Hennessy, the network's regular Supreme Court sketch artist, to the White House briefing today."
CNN reporters have been among the most vocal critics of off-camera briefings. Jim Acosta recently called Sean Spicer, “kind of useless.”
Acosta made the comment on air to CNN host Brooke Baldwin in the wake of Monday's press briefing where no video or audio was allowed.
He said, “The White House press secretary is getting to a point, Brooke, where he’s just kind of useless. If he can’t come out and answer the questions, and they’re just not going to do this on camera or audio, why are we even having these briefings or these gaggles in the first place?”
