Coal tycoon Robert E. Murray is suing HBO and John Oliver

On his latest "Last Week Tonight," John Oliver did a segment on coal baron Robert E. Murray and his business practices. Flash forward four days and Oliver, HBO, his writers and Time Warner are all being named in a defamation suit by Murray and his lawyers. The suit claims that Murray's character was deliberately attacked in an attempt to ruin his reputation and the reputation of his company. “We have confidence in the staff of Last Week Tonight and do not believe anything in the show this week violated Mr. Murray’s or Murray Energy’s rights,” Murray has sued others in the past for being critical of him and his practices, including the Huffington Post and The New York Times.
