Footage has emerged from China of police and fishermen rescuing a whale shark stranded on a beach.

The video, filmed in Hainan Province on June 20, shows five men trying to help the stranded whale shark swim back out into the ocean.

According to local reports, a local person found the four-metre-long young whale shark and called the police for help.
