New study shows cats once conquered human world

A new study shows cats once ruled the human world, before they were domesticated. The report, published Monday in Nature Ecology & Evolution, shows cats lived for thousands of years alongside humans. Researchers analyzed the DNA of more than 200 cats as old as 9,000 years from Europe and the Middle East. Cats were domesticated about 10,000 years ago, when human civilization planted crops attracting felines to the farms.
