ICC Champions trophy : Hardik Pandya may replace MS Dhoni as a match finisher | Oneindia News

Hardik Pandya might replace former India captain MS Dhoni or Yuvraj Singh as a match finisher as Indian skipper Virat Kohli has invested a lot of faith in Hardik Pandya and he justified it in the final. It was only the third time Pandya finished his quota of 10 overs in his young ODI career and the way he batted showed he's the team's cleanest hitter. He has hit more sixes than any other batsman in the tournament despite playing only a handful of deliveries. While his bowling still needs work (must bowl a lot fuller), his batting looks ready to take over the mantle of finishing from Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni. Hardik Pandya smashed 76 off 43 balls, hit half a dozen of sixes to provide some entertainment, before being run-out due to a horrible mix-up with Ravindra Jadeja. Pandya was livid but he was only delaying the inevitable. India had to chase 339 runs by were unsuccessful after relinquishing crucial wickets in the match. Kohli said he was more than satisfied with Hardik Pandya's performance throughout the Champions Trophy.
