Inmates shoot guards dead, manhunt underway in Georgia

PUTNAM COUNTY, GEORGIA — A manhunt is underway for two inmates after two prison guards were shot dead on a bus on Tuesday.
The Georgia State Corrections Department bus was transporting 33 prisoners when suspects Donnie Rowe, 43, and Ricky Dubose, 24, entered the driver’s compartment, overpowered the guards, and disarmed them, CNN reported.
It is unknown how the suspects escaped from the gated and locked rear section of the bus.
At least one of the suspects shot the guards dead.
Both suspects then carjacked a Green 2004 Honda Civic, according to NBC-affiliate WXIA.
Later, the suspects burglarized a house and are believed to have stolen food and clothes.
Officials said the suspects may be armed with the guards’ Glock pistols and should be considered “dangerous beyond description.”
The slain guards have been identified as Christopher Monica, 42, and Curtis Billue, 58.
Authorities have posted a $60,000 reward for the capture of Rowe and Dubose.
