THE BAHAMAS — A North Carolina mom of three lost nearly her entire arm after what was supposed to be an enjoyable snorkeling experience in the Bahamas took a horrific turn.

According to North Carolina’s WSOC TV, Tiffany Johnson, 32, and her husband James were on their last cruise stop in the Bahamas on June 2 when they decided to go snorkeling in a shallow reef area.

While swimming in the water, Tiffany felt something bump into her from behind. When she turned around to look, a shark was staring her right in the face. Tiffany tried to get away, but shark promptly sank its many teeth into her, chomping down on almost her entire arm. From the boat, James saw his wife swimming toward him as fast as she could, with blood spreading out all around her. He jumped into the water as soon as he also heard the sounds her screams for help.

With aid from her husband and some divine intervention, Tiffany managed to survive the horrific shark attack. The couple says the flight back to a hospital in North Carolina would have cost them $16,000, fortunately, it was paid off by the medical air transport company.

Tiffany is set to have another surgery this Friday to prepare her for a prosthetic arm.

As of Monday, the couple’s GoFundMe page had already raised more than $17,000 for her medical expenses.
