Trump finally commits to defend NATO allies

At a joint press conference on Friday, President Donald Trump spoke alongside the president of Romania on the U.S.'s allegiance to NATO's Article 5 treaty. “I'm committing the United States to Article 5, and certainly, we are there to protect and certainly that's one of the reasons that I want people to make sure we have a very, very strong force by paying the kind of money necessary to have that force." Trump also made it clear that fellow NATO members should pay more dues as to not financially burden the United States. He was recently scrutinized after failing to commit to Article 5 at a memorial for the treaty last month. In his defense, White House advisers claimed that Trump's commitment to NATO should have been clear because he was complimenting the common defense of his allies.
