Amy Schumer knows that life’s worth joking about, even when it’s something crappy like a break up.

The comedian addressed a crowd at Hilarity for Charity’s Third Annual New York City Variety Show, which benefits Alzheimer’s research, where she touched on the fact that her recent relationship with Ben Hanisch fizzled out after a year and a half.

She joked about some of the hurdles that happen in relationships… The 36-year-old says, “We went out with a couple who’s been together a long time and we were kind of trying to rush the intimacy…. I was trying to impress the girl and I was like, ‘well he woke me up this morning with a fart.’ And he just slowly turned to me and he goes, ‘Are we doing this?’ And I was like ‘no, no, no, no, no, no. We’re not opening fire. Don’t tell me any of the disgusting shit I’ve done. He was just like, ‘I want male confidence.’”

Needless to say, it didn’t pan out, but now Amy can focus on the funny in relationship flaws.
