Anal Fissure - Home Remedies for Anal Fissure

An open sore in the skin around the anus can cause a burning or an extremely sharp pain when you have a bowel movement. This is called an anal fissure or a rectal fissure. People who suffer from constipation suffer from this problem. This is because hard and large stools can rip the lining of the anus. Other causes include persistent diarrhea, straining during childbirth, and tight anal sphincter muscles. Some of the most common symptoms are itching or bleeding when you pass stools. There are some home remedies that will help reduce pain. They will also heal your fissure within a week.

1. Olive Oil
Olive oil is extremely rich in fats that will lubricate your bowel system. This lets the stool pass easily. Olive oil also has many anti-inflammatory properties that will help lower the pain caused by anal fissures. Combine equal amounts of olive oil, honey and beeswax in a pan. Warm it up until the beeswax completely melts. Let the mixture cool. Then rub it on the injured area.

2. Aloe Vera
Aloe vera possesses an extremely good natural healing power. It also has pain-relieving properties that will ease the pain of an anal fissure. Aloe vera will repair the damaged skin tissue. Just cut off one leaf of an aloe vera plant and slice it open. Then scrape out the gel and rub it on the hurt area.

3. Hot Sitz Bath
To eliminate the pain and promote the healing of a rectal fissure, you can use a hot sitz bath. This will increase blood flow to the anal area. The result will help the healing of minor tears in the tissue. The bath will also help to reduce the pain, the swelling and the itching. Just fill a bathtub with warm water. Then put a couple of drops of lavender essential oil in the water and mix it well.

4. Comfrey
Comfrey is a very common herb that will promote healing and relieve pain when you suffer from a rectal fissure. The roots and the leaves contain properties that will regenerate skin tissues and encourage rapid cell growth. Mix 1 tablespoon of dried comfrey with 1 cup of hot water. Then let it sit for about 15 minutes. You can apply this solution to the affected area 2 or 3 times a day.

5. Coconut Oil
Coconut oil is another great home remedy for anal fissures. Because it has triglycerides, this oil will penetrate into the skin. This will keep the area lubricated and will start the healing process. Just rub the coconut oil on the anal sphincter 2 or 3 times a day.

6. Apple Cider Vinegar
Constipation can cause anal fissures. Apple cider vinegar is an excellent treatment for constipation. Pectin is a fiber that is found in apple cider vinegar. It will improve digestion and it will encourage bowel movements. Stir 2 tablespoons of raw apple cider vinegar into a glass of water. Then just drink it twice daily.

7. Hygiene
It is important to maintain proper hygiene. Keep the affected area clean and dry. Moisture will increase the chance of bacterial infections. After every bowel movement, wipe the area using a soft toilet paper.
