Chinese rescue workers help to clear a flood-affected area in Yatagampitiya village in the Sri Lankan district of Bulathsinhala. Sri Lanka pledged on May 31 to tighten construction laws as the toll from heavy rains rose to 203, saying many landslide victims would have survived had their homes not been built on slopes.
