Google honors Pride flag creator Gilbert Baker

Google is showing its pride! On Friday, Google updated its logo to honor Gilbert Baker, the creator of the Pride flag. Today is Baker's 66th birthday and the animated logo features colored stripes that come together to form the rainbow flag. The flag was born in 1978 as an alternative to the pink triangle used by Nazis to identify LGBT individuals during WWII. "The rainbow is so perfect because it really fits our diversity in terms of race, gender, ages, all of those things. Plus, it’s a natural flag—it’s from the sky!” Baker died in March 2017 but the Pride flag will live on forever.
