Beef Ban : IIT-Madras Scholar Beaten Up For Eating Beef During Protest | Oneindia Malayalam

A Ph.D scholar at the Indian Institute of Technology(IIT Madras ) was on tuesday beaten up allegedly by some students owing allegiance to right wing groups. R. Soorah, PhD scholar and a member of the Ambedkar Periyar study circle , was beaten up for eating beef as part of a protest against restrictions on cattle trade which was brought by Union Government.

കേന്ദ്ര സര്‍ക്കാരിന്റെ കന്നുകാലി വില്‍പന നിരോധനത്തിനെതിരെ നടത്തിയ ബീഫ് ഫെസ്റ്റില്‍ പങ്കെടുത്ത മലയാളി വിദ്യാര്‍ഥിക്ക് ക്രൂര മര്‍ദ്ദനം. മദ്രാസ് ഐഐടിയിലെ പിഎച്ച്ഡി സ്രോളര്‍ ആര്‍ സൂരജ് ആണ് മര്‍ദ്ദനത്തിന് ഇരയായത്. കഴിഞ്ഞദിവസം ഐഐടിയിലെ വിദ്യാര്‍ഥികള്‍ ബീഫ് ഫെസ്റ്റ് നടത്തിയിരുന്നു. ഇതില്‍ പങ്കെടുത്തതാണ് പ്രകോപനത്തിന് ഇടയാക്കിയതെന്നാണ് റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ട്. ഐഐടിയിലെ തന്നെ ഒരുസംഘം വിദ്യാര്‍ഥികളാണ് തന്നെ മര്‍ദ്ദിച്ചതെന്ന് സൂരജ് പറഞ്ഞു. സംഘപരിവാര്‍ അനുകൂല വിദ്യാര്‍ഥി സംഘടനാ പ്രവര്‍ത്തകരാണ് മര്‍ദ്ദിച്ചതെന്നാണ് സൂചന. ഹോസ്റ്റല്‍ കാന്റീനില്‍വെച്ച് ഏഴോളം വരുന്ന വിദ്യാര്‍ഥി സംഘം സൂരജിനെ ആക്രമിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. ഗുരുതരമായി പരിക്കേറ്റ സൂരജിനെ ആശുപത്രിയില്‍ പ്രവേശിപ്പിച്ചു.
