Since it’s Memorial Day, we decided to give our thanks to the celebs that served in military fighting for this country.

Celebs like Drew Carey, who entered the Marine Corps reserve in 1981, long before he was a household name. The funnyman said it was a way to make some more money, and it was then that he started performing standup. Drew has now teamed up with the USO and has since visited military bases in Iraq to perform comedy for the troops.

Ice T was actually served 4 years in the 25th Infantry Division at the Tropic Lightning Schofield Barracks in Hawaii back in the day. He said he found himself without opportunity when he was younger and decided he had to do something or end up going to jail after he graduated high school.

Don’t forget about Clint Eastwood. The tough guy actor was drafted in 1950 during the Korean War and was stationed at Fort Ord in California, where, thanks to his lifeguard training, he served as a swimming instructor. In 1951 a bomber he was in crashed in the ocean and he and the pilot swam three miles to shore.

Before Hugh Hefner was a Playboy, he was enlisted in the Army as a infantry clerk. This was back in World War 2 after he graduated from high school in 1944. He was posted at Camp Adair in Salem Oregon, and Camp Pickett in Virgina. During his time, Hef even contributed cartoons for the Army newspapers.
