'The Art Of The Deal’ Writer Says Trump Is In ‘Meltdown’ Mode, Will Likely Resign

told CNN’s Anderson Cooper that he believes the president is in a place of “significant meltdown.”
Wednesday was another big news day for the White House, with the Justice Department announcing the appointment of a special prosecutor to delve into the Trump campaign and Russia matter, reports Reuters.
That evening, Tony Schwartz, who co-authored President Trump’s book ‘The Art of The Deal,' told CNN’s Anderson Cooper that he believes the president is in a place of “significant meltdown.”
Schwartz commented, “I think he’s reacting from a survival place…he’s being run by the part of his brain that’s reactive and impulsive, not capable of reflection." He further noted, “The sense of siege that he feels because his sense of self-worth is so, so vulnerable that the series of things that have happened have been overwhelming to him.”
Since the Justice Department’s announcement, Trump’s commentary on the matter has been mixed.
On Wednesday, he presented a confident and hopeful front, saying in a statement, “As I have stated many times, a thorough investigation will confirm what we already know - there was no collusion between my campaign and any foreign entity."
The president’s Thursday morning tweets expressed a decidedly different outlook.
He wrote, “With all of the illegal acts that took place in the Clinton campaign & Obama Administration, there was never a special counsel appointed!” In a tweet posted soon after he asserted, “This is the single greatest witch hunt of a politician in American history!”
How all of this will end is, of course, something only time knows, but Schwartz has a prediction.
He told Cooper, “I surely believe that at some point over the next period of time he’s going to have to figure out a way to resign.”
Schwartz added that if such a thing does come to pass, Trump will, “figure out a way, as he has done all his career, to turn a loss into a victory so he will declare victory when he leaves.”
