Turkish president to meet with Trump in Washington

Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will meet with President Trump on Tuesday to discuss the relationship between the two countries. While Turkey and the U.S. are NATO allies, their relationship has been complicated by Washington's strategy on the war in Syria. Erdogan is expected to press Trump to refrain from arming Kurdish rebels in Syria, who Turkey considers to be terrorists. Erdogan is also likely to pressure the U.S. to extradite cleric Fethullah Gulen, who he blames for an attempted coup last July.
