Former President Obama unveiled his plans for his upcoming presidential library and center in Chicago. The library intends to bring new community programs to the South Side of Chicago, where he initially launched his political career. "What we wanted was something that was alive, and that was a hub for the community and for the city and for the country," Obama. The Obama center, expected to launch in 2021, could potentially be the biggest projects developed on the South Side of Chicago, costing at least $500 million to build.
