Bill to amend whistleblowers law introduced in Lok Sabha

A Bill to amend the Whistleblowers Protection Act 2011 to keep issues of national security out of its purview was introduced in the Lok Sabha today. Union home minister Rajnath Singh said on Monday the Indian government had provided relevant documents on gangster Dawood Ibrahim to Pakistan, but Islamabad had failed to start the process to track him down. A special cell of the Delhi Police on Monday said they have arrested an alleged operative of the banned terror group Indian Mujahideen. Commuters in the National Capital scrambled for autorickshaws and there was a huge rush on the Delhi Metro as DTC buses stayed off the roads. The strike was called after a 42-year-old bus driver Ashok Kumar was beaten to death by a motorcycle rider. President Pranab Mukherjee, currently on his four-day official visit to Russia, has inaugurated a festival of Indian culture ‘Namaste Russia' in Moscow.
